Art Collage Dress

a project inspired by the arrival of spring
the little birdies...the blossoms on our cherry tree
...the buds in my garden
o
I assembled this dress from repurposed fabric and embellishments.
Fabrics and trims have been coffee stained for a vintage look.
Dress is embellished with my favorites...nests, hearts and
found goodies...

Front collage includes needle felted nest with beads,
a heart assembled from a tea bag,
lots of fibers, beads, buttons and fabric layering for an ethereal feel...
"Dreams" was created from hand sewn chenille ribbon
the words "fiber of life" refer to all the tiny bits that go
into weaving a nest...

On the back a fabric collage...
life begins...
a fresh slate for dreams and possibilities
o

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in the bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom"

MAINE COLLECTIVE

Mixed Media Collage with original background photography and
found objects from nature: seaglass, beach stones, driftwood
grapevines and blueberry twigs.
Frame constructed from old barn wood found on the eastern shore in Maryland.
Other elements include metal mesh fabric, skeleton leaves and some silk cocoons.
The nest (not my photography) is the center of all that is found in nature...

Every year, as a family we spend a week in Maine on the cusp of summer...
before the crowds arrive. It's a wonderful, peaceful opportunity to search for
natural treasures hiding in the marshes, beaches and woods.
