Pulp Redux Update

Pulp Redux is an altered book collaboration between five artists.
You can read all about the project here.

For the last month I have been working on Debrina's extraordinary and brilliantly crafted altered book titled "Through The Looking Glass." For a peek at her book click here.

Deb has set the scene in her book through a journal entry written in January 1896 by Maude who is leaving London to meet her paramour, Damien. Her husband recently passed away and left Maude a substantial fortune. With this inheritance Maude has purchased herself an eyeglass (not considered a fashion accessory in her day) and is on her way to see the world with her not so secret lover now. Each of us will have a
chance to tell what Maude sees through her eye glass on her journey....

Keeping in mind Deb's love of tiny details, I have designed a page
influenced by the end of the Victorian era and
dedicated to the passion of the lovers...

the page is fairly thick with a few secrets

styled to resemble old luggage

\

inside reveals a removable calendar from the year 1896

she in all her glamour...

her locket...

with her secret inside...

Soon to follow...the flip side of the page
as the story continues...

i do apologize for my bear bones honest comment here but i'm just sitting here stunned -- haven't even read your email yet. i'm just staring at every photo saying "oh my fucking gawd" over and over and over. you, my sweet friend, are amazing beyond words... beyond anything i have ever said before. your work is so amazing and so gorgeous and so detailed and so perfect -- it has me weepy and it's not even my book! you should be traveling the world teaching very expensive workshops! this is just beyond phenominal!

i'm sorry for swearing in your comments. :(

and i wanted to add... i have made little bits and pieces for each of the books already and gathered a whole cigar box of goodies, and it just occurred to me that what i started for deb's book is in the same hues as what you've done here! i shouldn't have shown her, but i did. how funny and sweet we all are, doing so very different things but still so similar.

Absolutely awestruck I am! This is really outstanding Lisa, what a wonderful page! Love all the details and the textures are just drooly! I can't wait to see this in person as the size is quite deceiving I think. It looks huge but then it must fit the page! Great job, I LOVE this!

Ok, I'm back. I've composed myself since my last comment, as I was a bit too blown away to make any real sense, lol! Well Lisa - I think this is the most stunning thing you've ever done (and that's saying something, because all your stuff is so bloomin' stunning!!). What's more, this stunning thing is in my book! You have totally brought alive the love story. I can so see the Victorian love elements and I'm just dying to know what Maude's other little secret is! I guess I'll have to wait for that wee surprise.
Alicia's right - you have surpassed anything I ever expected and you should be the one running workshop camps now! We NEED to get a hold of a publisher (am I beginning to sound like a broken record??).
Love you, Lisa!
