My Pulp Redux contribution to Through the Looking Glass

the year was 1896...


poor Richard...


but time waits for no man...


did he die of a broken heart...


This is my contribution to the second page in my Pulp Redux progression of


This side tells the story of Maude's husband Richard
and his unfortunate death.
We never know the cause of death...so there's only speculation.
However, after his death, Maude takes her inheritance
and buys herself a much needed eye glass.
She then heads off to meet her lover Damien
in the city of Romance.



A side view shows the underside of my first page of
peeking out and a pocket for the watch.


 These are two sides to a small signature piece I made
as a contribution to a book Deb created. In this book she
designed tiny collages to represent each person in the collaboration.

secrets of being a woman


mixed media fabric collage constructed on a frame
from inside an old photo album cover.
layers of vintage lace, silk sari ribbon,
muslin and tapestry embellished
with crystal beads and pearl trim.


beneath the quote are layers of vintage and discarded papers
 including cardboard, tea bags, dryer sheets, text,
tissue paper and bird's nest.


it wouldn't be complete without a birds nest! 
made from wire and mohair
i've tucked a tiny egg-shaped white turquoise bead inside.
