secrets of being a woman

mixed media fabric collage constructed on a frame
from inside an old photo album cover.
layers of vintage lace, silk sari ribbon,
muslin and tapestry embellished
with crystal beads and pearl trim.

beneath the quote are layers of vintage and discarded papers
including cardboard, tea bags, dryer sheets, text,
tissue paper and bird's nest.

it wouldn't be complete without a birds nest!
made from wire and mohair
i've tucked a tiny egg-shaped white turquoise bead inside.

this piece is listed in my Etsy shoppe.

Your interwoven lace looks like a tapestry, so artfully intertwined. A good nest for secrets.

Lisa ,it is a wonderfull piece.
So full of beauty and wonderfull materials, mixed up to be a beautifull, beautifull collage,so full of layers ,and things popping out all over
And as alwayes you links a great story to your creation, as though they were born together?
The saying from Karen Blixen -as her real name was- is wonderfull here.
Thanks dear friend, for showing.

Love and hugs Dorthe

Once again a stunning piece Lisa! I really love your art lady! I'm with Debs, you really should run your own workshops! I am reminded of a quote from Zsa Zsa Gabor who once said that all married couples should have their own separate bathrooms after marriage as women should maintain some of their mystique! Loving the textures here! I must wipe up my drool, it is so NOT a good look, LOL!

I am just getting started making collages....so am very interested in how YOU do them as well.
