a little visitor

I couldn't figure out what was going on
in the middle of my hanging plant until i turned it around...
to find out a sparrow had taken up residency...

she did a wonderful landscaping job with the moss
from my planters...

Over the course of the weekend the egg numbers have
dwindled from four to two and back up to four again
due to lots of predators...
Now she has finally decided to sit on them
rather than keep laying more.
she must be tired!

Hi Lisa - thanks for coming on by and saying hi! And yes, we've had some fun times!!! How cute about your little visitor, too!!! You're both artist/crafters - so I'm sure the feeling is quite mutual. He/she probably thinks you've moved into their space! Ha ha.

Those are some beautiful eggs.

Is one of the eggs different in colour and size? Maybe a cuckoo has paid the nest a visit.

What a wonderful surprise! I hope mummy can keep all her eggs now and hatch them soon.

What a beautiful little nest. I know she worked hard putting that all together. Maybe we can see a baby or two down the road. Thanks for posting this. Hugs, Diane

how wonderful to find a bird's nest in your hanging planter-- you will get to watch the progress and hopefully the hatching and peeping and all the activity until they get big enough to fly off on their own.

That's quite amazing to have a nest in such a small space. Hope you will make some more photos! Can't wait to see the little birdies.

Happy summer!

ooh, that is ever so sweet!! i can't wait to hear of some hatching. how precious that will be and you will have a wonderful nest to keep. my husband and son have a "thing" for cats so we have too many around here... which means no birds. i would trade our three kitties for a dog and some birds any day! such a lucky gift to find in your planter. :)
