now it's finished

i
I know you've seen this before...
but it wasn't completely finished
and I had to leave it to go out of town.
I've put it in a frame I've made out of old barnwood
and added a few more details...
The one remaining constant is my
crappy photography!

The theme of the piece is centered around the quote.

I used Ranger Crackle paint around the edges.
My first experience
with this was pretty darn frustrating...
but thanks to the incredibly talented Alicia and her expert advice...
I think I've got the hang of it. I know...it seems self explanatory
but I have little patience with paint.
I'd rather handsew tiny details for a hour...

The edges of the frame are covered in aged text
from a old book.

more details...a handle from an old trunk
and bindings from an old book

Old newspaper headlines and clippings
and a bit of the frame...

I thought it looked fab before Lisa, but the extra bits and framing have really finished it off well and given it more complexity. Great job. I'm with you and the crappy photography skills. I so need lessons, or maybe photography for dummies LOL!

I love it Lisa. And..for the record..crackle paint is extremely hard to work with..it takes patience and lots of practice..so don't feel silly!!!

I am going to add you to my blogs I follow.

Have a great day

i just wrote you a huge 3 paragraph comment and dumb blogger erased it. :(

short recap: i loveloveLOVE this! i loved it before but all of the additional details and the frame make it perfect!! you are such an ever-talented lady and i admire your ability to hand sew tiny details for an hour. i'd have better luck painting something for 4 hours than sewing for 4 minutes. i poke myself, then bleed on what i'm trying to make. :)

Your assemblage work is so unique, Lisa. It is always full of amazing detail and the most interesting pieces. A really wonderful combination of elements. Love the way you have covered the edges of the frame.
