This has been an amazing year at KC Willis Studio. Wow. 170 students from 8 countries currently enrolled at her on-line workshop where she teaches the basics of her techniques and inspires you to new creative heights. http://www.collagecamp.ning.com/ You have never seen anything like Collage Camp!

And if video workshops aren't your thing...how about KC Willis Live! Come take a multi-day class with KC in her very sweet Victorian studio house in Longmont, Colorado. Check it out at http://www.studioretreats.ning.com/

Pieces of the Past

0
Recyc)
I just completed this piece for a challenge from
KC Willis at Collage Camp.
the idea was to use only recycled and used elements.
this wonderful old printers box was perfect for such a project!
most of the pieces are things i have picked up on the ground...
on my runs in the city...
at the beach..or in the woods.
although i must confess there are a few bits of
paper and such that are not recycled...
I couldn't help myself...creative license bonus!

this is one of my favorite quotes.. though i have so many...
but it really described the essence of this piece...
my favorite type of art...
bringing together bits of found treasures from many places
to create a beautiful rembrance. the paper is coffee stained.
the grapevine and beach glass i collected myself.
i've added a couple of old clock gears for a bit of steampunk appeal..
i thought they went well with the brass connectors
on the crossbars of the box.

i found this piece of beach glass last week in Maine...
it reminded me of an old vase.
i always have a closet full of hanging flowers
in the process of drying...
i love using them to make wreaths and wrap gifts.

i made this nest out of some chicken wire and
used a beach pebble for the egg.
the old lace doily is coffee stained.
the driftwood came from the beach
and pools in Maine.

Finally...Something New!

0
Whimsical Collage
0

Just finished this lovely work using one of my favorite quotes.

Lots of hand sewn details...

mother of pearl buttons, found objects, rusty elements,

antiqued lace, abaca paper and birds nest paper...

just to name a few.

This piece was inspired by some of the techniques I learned

at Collage Camp from KC Willis.

For the photographs I used TAP (transfer artist paper)

from Lesley Riley. I was a little skeptical a first as I have always

printed my images directly on fabric but I was pleasantly

surprised with the results.

The images transferred beautifully and it was a snap to use!

My favorite part of this collage was trying out some of the incredible

stitches on my new Husqvarna! It amazes me what

a sewing machine can do...

especially since my old machine only had a couple basic stitches.

Now all I need is a better camera as the photographs are still
0
my biggest challenge..

This collage is for sale and will be listed mid June after

we return from Maine.

Feel free to email me with any questions...
